The Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) was established on 1 September 1971 as an independent and non-profit think tank based in Jakarta. Its research focuses on economics, political and social change, and international relations, with an emphasis on contributing independent input to government institutions, civil society, media, academia, and the business sector. CSIS is also actively engaged in regional and international policy networks, including INCPEC (Pacific Economic Cooperation Council), CSCAP (Council for Security Cooperation in Asia Pacific), and the ASEAN-ISIS Secretariat. Through research, seminars, publications, public education, and cultural activities, CSIS is committed to promoting knowledge-based policy development for Indonesia’s sustainable progress.
